Nucleated SettlementThis is the most prevalent rural residential pattern in agricultural areas. In this kind of settlement, houses are grouped together in tiny clusters or hamlets, or in larger clusters called villages.
Round VillageThese were originally created to allow cattle to be herded into the center of the village.

Walled VillageWalled villages were originally created to protect the villagers from attacks. They are reminders of an area's turbulent past.
